Step 1:
Begin with wet or towel-dried damp hair. Using a blow-dryer and a round brush, dry hair until it is smooth and frizz-free.
Step 2:
Part the front section of your hair on the side. Grab your remaining hair and brush it to the back of your head and twist it in. Twist it as if you were doing a French twist, but leave the end section of your hair at the crown of your head. Pin your twisted hair with bobby pins to ensure it is secure.
Step 3:
Backcomb the remaining hair at the crown of your head and style into a bouffant shape. Brush, smooth and fold it over backwards toward your twist. Pin the ends of your hair in the bouffant down into the top of your twist. Keep it in place by pinning the ends down with a few bobby pins.
Step 4:
To finish off your hairstyle, spray to set with
Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold Hair Spray and add a vintage brooch to the centre of the bouffant for a retro vibe.
Steps for makeup
Step 1:
Brows are a key part of this makeup look. Using the Brow Stylist Definer Extra Fine Tip Shaping Pencil, start at the base of your eyebrow and begin outlining your natural shape with small, hairlike strokes. Fill in your entire eyebrow with a full, natural shape.
Step 2:
To further define your arches, reach for the Brow Stylist Prep and Shape Pro Kit. This duo contains both a wax and a powder to hold hairs in place and add more shape. Use the powder to fill in any bare spots and add more volume to your brows. This will help to frame your eyes and complement your eyeliner.
Step 3:
Next up is that classic ’60s eyeliner. The liner look of choice in the 1960s was strong winged eyeliner, which works on all eye shapes and opens up the eyes for a doe-eyed effect. Using Infallible Paints Liquid Eyeliner in Black Party and starting at the inner corner of the eye, outline the shape of your eye. When you reach the outer corner, gently bring the liner upwards to get a slight uptick for a cat-eye look. Once you have the shape you want, you can go back in and thicken up your cat-eye eyeliner to get the desired look.
Step 4:
Finish off your eyes with a healthy dose of Voluminous Original Mascara on your upper and lower lashes. Apply a second coat of mascara to your top lashes.
Step 5:
For your face, buff Paradise Enchanted Blush in Just Curious 192 onto the apples of your cheeks and blend it upwards to lift your face and give it a natural flush.
Step 6:
Complete the look by swiping on a neutral peach lip with a glossy finish like Colour Riche Shine in Shiny Peach.
Ta-da! You’ve created a stunning 1960s hair and makeup look with perfect eyeliner, full brows and a timeless updo. This beauty look is classic and can be worn as is or tweaked accordingly by giving it a modern spin with a brighter lip or thicker liner. If you want to try a smokier, sultry look, add an eyeliner pencil to your lower lids or a dark eyeshadow.
