Long hair, do care! Whether you wear your long hair with bangs, in flowing layers or in a long haircut with a side part and tucked behind your ears, keeping the length of your hard-earned locks is priority number one. After all, it took years of dedicated growth to create your now signature style, never mind sheer determination not to give way to every asymmetrical lob, shattered bob or shiny pixie trend flitting, flicking and tossing its way through Hollywood, down fashion’s runways or across the big and small screens. With so much hair temptation everywhere, it’s hard not to want to mix things up. And you can—commitment-free. We’ve got an easy-peasy hairstyle that’s perfect for your long hair. Its low-maintenance, high-impact vibe will have you embracing change without ever having to make a cut. Here’s how!
Step 1. After washing, conditioning and towel drying your hair, spritz with L’Oréal Paris Stylista #Beachwaves Texturizing Mist and massage it in. Apply a few more sprays to your hairline for extra control and hold as this styling product is ideal for keeping updos for long hair in place.
Step 2. Dry your hair thoroughly, focusing the heat of your blow-dryer across your hairline to the back of your head, drying upward and off your face. Next, spritz L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray from the roots to mid-shaft and then brush your hair into a high, mid or low ponytail and secure with an elastic. Depending on the thickness of your hair and the weight of your updo for long hair, apply another misting of the hairspray all over the crown of your head for extra hold.
Step 3. Squirt a half a pump of L’Oréal Paris Extraordinary Oil Penetrating Oil into your palms and then run your ponytail through your hands to add major shine and smoothing sleekness. Next, divide your ponytail into two halves: one on the top and one on the bottom. Holding the top section in your hands, divide it into two sections: one right and one left. Let the two new sections hang on either side of the bottom section. You should now have three long hair sections in total.
Step 4. Lift the bottom section up and secure it to the top of your head with a hair clip to get it out of the way. Now, take an elastic and secure your right and left sections together and then clip them on top of your head. Unclip the first section of hair (the original bottom section) from your head and separate it into a right and left section as well. Release the second section of hair you clipped up and divide it into right and left pieces along either side of the section previously secured with an elastic. Using a hair clip, secure the elastic-tied section on top of your head. Now secure the right and left pieces of long hair with another elastic. Keep repeating this process until you have run out of hair.
Step 5. Now that you’ve finished fashioning your hairdo for long hair, reach up to the top elastic at the back of your head and lightly start pulling apart the braids, loosening them to create an imperfectly-perfect-looking texture. If any of the elastics are showing, use a comb or your fingers to push them upwards and into the braid. Give your hair one more spritz of L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray for maximum hold before heading out to show off your new and gorgeous long hairstyle.
